Adam’s excited about second muster gig

July 15, 2017

Australia’s Adam Eckersley Band rounds out the line-up for the 19th annual Deni Ute Muster, and lead vocalist Adam Eckersley says the group is looking forward to ‘‘rocking out’’ at this year’s muster.

Alongside Eckersley, band members Scott Greenaway, Benny Elliot and Dan ‘Arizona’ Biderman will return to the muster for the second time.

Their first crack at the iconic rural festival was in 2015.

‘‘Our set was awesome, and the place was packed,’’ Eckersley said of the 2015 gig.

‘‘We had watched Cold Chisel the night before, so we were on a massive high — the Ute Muster has such a diverse range of bands and music. It’s a very inspiring place to play.’’

Following a five-country European tour in September 2016, the frontman says the group is excited to play for its ‘‘fellow Aussies’’.

‘‘Festivals like the Ute Muster are great to perform at because the energy is infectious,’’ he said.

‘‘The crowd are all on the same wavelength and are drawn by the music, and performing to fans who have the same Australian sense of humour as us is always a laugh.’’

With recording underway for the group’s third album, Eckersley says there will a bit of everything on the set list for the muster gig.

‘‘We’ll be throwing in our new songs, and stuff from the first and second albums,’’ he said.

‘‘The crowd can expect guitar solos, plus a heap of dudes having a lot of fun and jamming out.’’

Eckersley says it’s tough to define the group’s sound, with influences coming from a wide range of musical genres.

‘‘It’s all over the place because we create our own music,’’ he said.

‘‘There’s definitely country, hints of blues, a southern rock influence, and old school rock, which I love.’’

And, very fittingly, the band’s pre-performance ritual includes having a ‘‘beer and a laugh’’.

‘‘The Ute Muster is a bloody good Australian festival — if you haven’t gone yet, you have to go,’’ Eckersley said.

‘‘We’re all looking forward to rocking and playing for a true-blue Aussie crowd.’’

Adam Eckersley Band formed in 2010 and since then has accumulated a number of prestigious industry accolades.

Its 2013 debut The First Album reached the number one spot on the iTunes Country Album Chart, and its single ‘Give Her the World’ claimed first prize in the country section of the 2014 International Song Writing Competition.

In 2014, Adam Eckersley Band took home the Golden Guitar for best new talent and two years later won the Golden Guitar for best group at the Country Music Association of Australia awards in Tamworth.
