Thieves target two Deniliquin schools

Police are investigating the malicious damage to Edward Public School caused over the weekend.

Staff returned on Monday to find pot-plants from the front of the school missing, as well as signage from the front fence removed.

Police said it also appears someone tried to force open a classroom window.

A laptop was discovered missing from the Deniliquin TAFE Campus on Monday morning.

Police say offenders also attempted to gain access to the canteen and a classroom, resulting in a broken door handle.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.

A Deniliquin teenager has been charged with allegedly possessing a prohibited drug and equipment to administer a prohibited drug after being searched by police on Wednesday.

About noon, police stopped the teen and allegedly located a ‘bong’ in a plastic bag and a small amount of cannabis.

A 32 year-old Deniliquin man received three fines for three alleged cycling offences on Tuesday.

About 8.10pm on Tuesday, police stopped the man riding a BMX bike east in Henry St.

Police allege he was not wearing an approved helmet and failed to show flashing lights on the bike’s front and rear.
