Local community groups hosted a family fun day in Deniliquin on Wednesday.
More than 50 people enjoyed a free barbecue lunch and activities at Scotts Park, known locally as the ‘Rocket Park’, in Russell St.
The event was hosted by the Deniliquin Local Aboriginal Land Council, Ability Links, Yarkuwa Indigenous Knowledge Centre and Intereach.
Featuring face painting, craft, giant games and fun activities, event coordinator Wendy Johnston said the day was aimed at ‘‘bringing people together’’.
‘‘The family fun day focused on inclusive social interaction.’’
The event saw the creation of ‘kindness rocks’, a new initiative where children decorate stones and pebbles with positive notes to be scattered around Deniliquin.
