Edward River Council is calling on residents to have their say in the development of the first ten-year Community Strategic Plan by completing a survey aimed at identifying the community’s priorities for the region.
Mayor Norm Brennan encouraged all residents interested in the future of the Edward River region to have their say by completing the survey.
‘‘While Council will be ramping up our consultation efforts throughout October and November, this survey is an important first step in identifying what people value about the Edward River region, as well as what they perceive to be the long-term challenges and opportunities facing our community,’’ Cr Brennan said.
‘‘The Community Strategic Plan will inform Council’s Delivery Program and annual Operational Plans over the next decade, and will be used by council to advocate on behalf of our community to state and federal governments and influence government-led programs and projects in the Edward River region.
‘‘While council is leading the development of our Community Strategic Plan, it’s important to note that this is a community-owned document, and its delivery and implementation will be the responsibility of both government and non-government stakeholders.’’
Cr Brennan said a variety of other consultation tools, including stakeholder workshops and community forums, would be used in preparing the Community Strategic Plan.
‘‘We want as many people as possible to participate in this process, and throughout October and November, we will be continuing to engage the public and make sure we produce a well-informed Community Strategic Plan which is representative of the feedback we receive,’’ he said.
‘‘Due to the very strong reception we have had to Project HQ at 42 Napier Street, we will have a space there dedicated to our Community Strategic Plan, meaning residents and visitors can easily drop in and put pen to paper and make sure their ideas are incorporated into the plan.’’
The survey can be completed online at www.oursay.org/EdwardRiver.
