Some of Australia’s most renowned genealogists and researchers will be in Deniliquin from today, for the Family History Expo.

Coordinated by the Deniliquin Genealogy Society Inc, the two day expo opens at 9.30am this morning.

Guests will have access to almost 40 exhibitors, and each day has a full schedule of presentations from experts.

The expo will be followed by a special seminar on Sunday, October 15, based on using the Family Tree Maker software.

Among the presentations will be once from Dr Tim Sherratt from the University of Canberra, who will give a presentation on using Trove — and online database of Australian books, images, historic newspapers, maps, music, archives and more.

There’s also a session on tracing your family’s involvement in World War II, presented by Lieutenant Colonel Neil C Smith, AM retired.

Another popular presenter will be Jason Reeves, presenting on searching using Ancestry.com.

Entry to the expo is $10 per day, and there will be a range of stalls, raffles and lucky door prizes.

Sunday’s special seminar costs $25 for Deniliquin Genealogy Society or Victorian Genealogists Using Microcomputers members, or $35 for non-members. Pre-bookings for the seminar must be made at the Deniliquin RSL Club.
