Boxers building up for Fight Night

November 10, 2017

Golden Rivers Deniliquin RSL Boxing Club’s Fight Night is fast approaching.

It will be held Saturday, December 2 at the Deni RSL Club.

Brad Maw and Blake Charlton, who both recently competed at the Murray River Rumble in Mulwala, are expected to headline a long list of Golden Rivers boxers to feature on the card.

Other locals set to compete are Rachel West, Riley Foord, Lachlan Dunn, Daniel Chenhall, Josh Rochford, Zac Rochford and Ben Blenkiron.

Golden Rivers president Roy Lynn expects it to be a tremendous night.

‘‘There’ll be a few boxers from Narrandera and Mulwala as well,’’ he said.

‘‘This will be our last tournament of the year before boxing season starts again in March.

‘‘It’s been a busy couple of months trying to organise the event.’’

One less stress that Lynn has had to worry about is finding a doctor for the Fight Night, with Deniliquin’s Dr Robert Campbell committing his services to the event.

‘‘Last year we weren’t able to secure a doctor until the week before the event,’’ Lynn said.

‘‘It put a lot of stress on us all, so we want to thank Dr Campbell for committing.

‘‘We’d also like to thank Glen Simmons for his recent donation of a punching bag, pads and head guard to the club.’’

Tickets to the Golden Rivers RSL Boxing Club Fight Night go on sale today at the Deniliquin RSL Club reception, or by calling 58811455.
