Local company Purtills kicked off Bus Safety Week last Friday by talking to future kindergarten students and their parents about bus conduct.

Purtills sales manager Leesa Muir addressed parents and future pupils at Deniliquin North Public School.

‘‘It was good to interact with the parents,’’ she said.

‘‘We discussed Purtills’ code of conduct, general bus safety, and awareness for parents when driving around buses.

‘‘Our priority is child safety and it’s important to ensure that each child understands bus safety.’’

Ms Muir also explained to parents the importance of educating their children about behaviour on the bus, including not standing until the bus has stopped and not to push or shove when getting on and off the bus.

Purtills transports up to 2000 children per week, across Deniliquin, Finley, Jerilderie and Hay areas including school drop offs, excursions and sports day trips.

Purtills continued its bus safety awareness campaign at local schools this week.
