Mick Howe sends his bowl down the green for Deni RSL in Division One.

All divisions for Deniliquin RSL Bowls Club were at home for round seven of Campaspe Valley Bowls Division on Saturday, with Division Three and Five victorious.

Division One played Tongala, giving up a first half lead to eventually go down 81-54 overall, leaving RSL languishing at the bottom of the ladder.

The combination of Darren Greaves, Ron Marchetti, Glenn Thomson and Craig Taylor got off to a reasonable start by picking up three of the first 12 ends to go into the break trailing by six shots, 6-12.

They picked up two shots straight after the break to be 8-12, but Tongala allowed them only two singles over the last 12 ends for a runaway win, 35-10.

The rink of Linda Harris, Ken Wellard, Rod Reid and Mick Howe picked up eight shots in the first two ends and went into the break in front 13-8.

As is often the case though, the break can upset momentum and RSL only managed to pick up four of the remaining ends, going down 19-29.

The rink of Mark Quor, Craig Hillier, Terry Taylor and Frank Daniels got away to a great start picking up eight of the first 12 ends to go into the break 17-7.

Although outscored by Tongala over the last 13 ends, they were able to walk away with a comfortable win 25-17, giving RSL two points for a winning rink.

RSL Division Three also played host to Tongala, coming away with a 77-73 overall win to consolidate fourth spot on the ladder, despite only claiming one rink win.

The team of Archie Webster, Jim Jennings, Chris Taylor and Danny Stanmore picked up the first end, but were unable to score again until the 10th.

A ‘six’ on the 10th and three shots over the next two ends saw them go into the break with the score 10-18.

After the break, they only conceded one shot to Tongala over the next nine ends, with another ‘six’ on the 18th.

After 21 ends RSL led 26-21, but Tongala would not lie down picking up 10 shots to win 31-26.

The combination of Tony Tonta, Bruce Clancy, Peter Liefting and Chris Frampton started reasonably well but could only manage singles, going into the break down 6-10.

Picking up a ‘one’ straight after the break and conceding only six shots, they were 7-16 after 18. The contest turned after this, with RSL dropping a ‘five’ and seeing the game slip away, only able to add two to the score, losing 9-33.

The team of Lee Pattinson, Jenny Tonta, Winnie Pattinson and Don McCalman steadily grafted a huge lead by the break, only conceding three ends to Tongala with the score 19-3.

The break didn’t upset the momentum for RSL, who piled on 10 shots to four by the 20th end.

A ‘three’ and ‘six’ on the last two ends saw the team carry their teammates over the line with a massive 42-9 rink win.

Division Five moved up to second spot on the ladder, winning on both rinks to come away with an overall 64-33 victory over neighbours Deni Bowling Club Blue.

The team of Kevin Lester, Peter Kotkin-Smith, Miro Peterman and Brad Leetham got off to a good start and went into the break with a solid 17-9 lead.

Deni Blue were able to string together three ends of two shots but after 20 ends RSL still led 22-17.

RSL were able to hold the margin to the end, winning the game 26-21.

On the other rink John Wilson, Brian Clancy, Wayne Bradley and Jamie Lowe started well by picking up eight ends before the break to lead 19-11.

Deni Blue were never in the hunt after the break with RSL building on their lead to finish the game 34-22 in front.
