Murray Irrigation’s ongoing network modernisation journey has entered a new phase.
The project has received $114.8 million in funding from the Australian Government under its Private Irrigation Infrastructure Operators Program (PIIOP) Round 3 program.
The new phase will focus on extending the life of larger infrastructure in the Murray Irrigation system.
The large-scale upgrades began in earlier this year, with six sites upgraded along the Berrigan Canal.
They have improved system control and will enable rain water events to be harvested.
PIIOP Round 3 will merge with earlier upgrades that deliver increased flow rates and order flexibility to customers.
Planning for 2018 winter works on the Mulwala Canal is underway with 12 regulators identified for upgrade.
Works will also be carried out on three regulators in the Wakool system.
