The Mathoura On The Map Committee is keen to attract new members and has decided to trial a new meeting day and time.

The committee’s next meeting will be held at 7.30pm on Tuesday, February 6.

Venue will be the Mathoura Visitor and Business Centre.

The committee was established with a view to developing and growing a range of services and attractions for locals and visitors and it would welcome input and ideas from the community.

All welcome.

Fourteen teams turned up to contest Mathoura Bowling Club’s Men’s Pairs 2x4x2 tournament last Thursday.

Forecast high temperatures prompted an early start to the competition which was decided on points.

Winners on 80 points were Anthony Hulm and Les Bates, while just one point behind were father and son combination, Barry and Rick Ireland.

The two local teams came out on top of competitors from Rich River, Deni RSL, Rochester, Lockington and the local club.

Summer has certainly made its presence felt in the last few weeks with temperatures regularly in the forties.

But you know it’s hot in the neighbourhood when the mercury soars above the highest listed number (50) and gives the top of the gauge a nudge – an estimated 55 degrees!

Let’s hope it backs off when the kids head back to school in the next week or so.

Don’t forget the very important meeting about the Mathoura Matters to be held on Monday.

The special AGM will be held at Mathoura Bowling Club at 7.30pm.

Everyone is welcome to go along and contribute ideas for the future of the local newsletter.
