The Rural Fire Service had a busy week, responding to four fires in the local area.

The first was a call-out to a property west of Deniliquin shortly after 4pm on Monday when a front end loader had caught fire.

The local team responded quickly and had the fire extinguished by 4.30pm.

There were then three separate fires on Wednesday.

The first burned about a hectare of grassland at a Campbells Rd property in the Mayrung area shortly after 11am Wednesday.

The Mayrung RFS brigade attended and the blaze took about an hour to extinguish with the help of the property owner.

Just before 3pm Wednesday, a grassfire was reported in the Brassi area on the Edward River about 13km west of Deniliquin.

The fired burned up to a hectare of grassland.

The Brassi RFS brigade were on site for about 45 minutes in extinguishing the blaze.

Also about 3pm Wednesday, wind reignited a permitted burn at a Mayrung property, according to the RFS.

Mayrung and Myrtle Park RFS brigade members were on site ‘mopping up’ the blaze and ensuring all hot spots were extinguished.
