In the match between Mitre 10 and Agspares/Legal Eagles neither team was prepared to concede defeat but were not strong enough to record a win, resulting in a rare draw in the Deni Lawn Tennis Club’s senior competition on Saturday.

The score after 14 sets was seven sets each and 92 games each.

There were four sets played out by tie-break and the teams shared two wins each from those matches. The only three set winner in the match was Annie Bulmer for Agspares.

The men’s sets were 4/3 in favour of Mitre 10, while the ladies sets were shared two each. In the mixed sets Agspares won two of the three sets.

Jim Hare had the distinction of playing three tie-breaker sets for the afternoon but only managed the one win.

Hare’s teammate James Sides played two tie-breaker sets for one win.

The ladies of the Taskers Battlers/Elders team continue to do the heavy lifting to keep their team in the lead of the competition.

Eimear Gogarty and Allison Collins-Roe both won three sets while Connie Haines chimed in by winning two sets.

Taskers’ men struggled, winning only two sets this round.

For Peppin Planners/TA Maher, Ryan Butcher won three sets, while Andrew Hermiston also won two sets in a losing team.

In other news, the club is preparing for the end of season celebration on Saturday, March 17 to be held after tennis at the Timbercutter Restaurant at Picnic Point.

The club will run a bus and all players and past players are invited to attend.
