The Riverina Murray Regional Tourism Awards were officially launched in Deniliquin last week.
Edward River Council representatives met Destination Riverina Murray general manager Richie Robinson and Regional Tourism Awards coordinator Belinda King at the Deni Ute Muster site, where this year’s gala awards night will be held for the first time.
The group enjoyed a tour of the site with Ute Muster general manager Vicky Lowry.
Applications for the Regional Tourism Awards are open and will close on Friday, May 25.
Mr Robinson encouraged local operators across the region to enter and said for those feeling unsure or overwhelmed by the process, there are plenty of resources and assistance on hand.
“Destination Riverina Murray and Murray Regional Tourism are available to assist applicants and ensure the process is as straight forward as possible.
‘‘For example, first-time awards entrants can access a mentoring and support program facilitated by Murray Regional Tourism to assist with regional and state awards submissions.’’
The annual awards ceremony will be held at the Ute Muster site on Saturday, July 21 and is considered the ‘night of nights’ for the regional tourism industry.
Winners of the Regional Tourism Awards gain finalist status upon entering the NSW State Tourism Awards, and if successful go on to the National Tourism Awards.
