Footballer of the Year

April 06, 2018

Harvey Norman Deniliquin and the Pastoral Times have teamed together to celebrate Deniliquin’s leading local footballer.

The winner of the ‘Local Footballer of the Year’ will receive a $1000 gift voucher from Harvey Norman Deniliquin and will be judged across the 18 games played in the Murray and Picola football leagues respectively.

All senior footballers from Deni Rams, Deni Rovers, Blighty and Mathoura are eligible and clubs will submit 3, 2 and 1 votes after each round.

The footballer with the most votes after each league has finished the home and away season will win the prize.

However, local football followers can also share in the glory, with up to $4000 in Harvey Norman Deniliquin vouchers up for grabs for PT readers.

Starting next Tuesday, an entry form will appear in the PT sports pages in weeks where there are matches being played that involve any of the four local clubs.

Pick one ‘Local Footballer of the Week’ from any of the four clubs and if your entry is the first one drawn you win a $100 Harvey Norman Deniliquin voucher. And, if the player you selected on your entry is awarded the best on ground ‘3’ vote for their respective club that weekend, your prize is doubled to a $200 voucher.

Enter as many times as you like. Entries must be original copies from the Pastoral Times and must be submitted into the entry box at Harvey Norman before 1pm every Saturday.

Harvey Norman Deniliquin store manager Andrew Poswillo said he’s proud to be supporting local football and local footy followers.

‘‘We wanted to give something back and create a bit of a buzz around our local footballers and footy clubs and those who follow them. That’s why we started this promotion with the PT.

‘‘We encourage people to enter the weekly competition and pick who you’ll think will be the best player at your club that weekend. It’s another reason to cheer them on.’’

■ The first weekly entry form will appear in next Tuesday’s Pastoral Times. Full terms and conditions of entry available on the entry box in-store at Harvey Norman Deniliquin.

■ Deniliquin Rams votes for the opening round match against Finley on Good Friday: 3 votes - J Anstee, 2 R Gittens, 1 S Willoughby.
