Lucy Horne is the first winner of the Harvey Norman ‘Local Footballer of the Week’ draw.
Lucy claimed a $100 voucher after her entry was drawn on Monday.
‘‘It’s very exciting to win this,’’ she said.
‘‘I always buy local and even if the Deni Harvey Norman doesn’t have what I need in stock, I still order it through them.
‘‘The competition is a great initiative of a local business to support local sport.
‘‘That’s why I went out of my way to enter, because it’s a case of locals supporting locals.’’
Unfortunately for Lucy she was unable to double-up choosing her husband Matt, who plays for the Deni Rovers, as her Footballer of the Week selection.
‘‘He didn’t know that I was choosing him,’’ she said.
‘‘I put my husband because he has a fair bit to do with the Rovers and he had a good start to the season in round one.
‘‘I thought I’d better back him in because it would seem wrong to choose anyone else.’’
You too can win a Harvey Norman voucher by picking one ‘Local Footballer of the Week’ from either Deni Rovers, Deni Rams, Blighty or Mathoura.
If your entry is the first one drawn you win a $100 Harvey Norman Deniliquin voucher and if your player is awarded the best on ground ‘3’ vote for their respective club that weekend, your prize is doubled to a $200 voucher.
Entries must be original copies from the Pastoral Times and must be submitted into the entry box at Harvey Norman before 1pm every Saturday.
All senior footballers from Deni Rams, Deni Rovers, Blighty and Mathoura are eligible and clubs will submit 3, 2 and 1 votes after each round.
The winner of the ‘Local Footballer of the Year’ will receive a $1000 gift voucher from Harvey Norman Deniliquin and will be judged across the 18 games played in the Murray and Picola football leagues respectively.
