The Deniliquin Waring Gardens will be a haven for mums and families this Sunday, when the inaugural Naponda Mother’s Day Market sprawls across its vast lawns.
At the time of going to print yesterday at least 50 stallholders had signed up for the event, which will incorporate all the beloved elements of the traditional Conargo Mother’s Day Market and the monthly Naponda Farmers’ Market.
Naponda took over organising the event from a fatigued Conargo committee earlier this year, after it was announced the Conargo market would not go ahead.
Naponda life member Cle McAllister said it presented an exciting opportunity to members.
‘‘We are just rapt to be involved, because we did not want to see it fold,’’ Mrs McAllister said.
‘‘Our normal Farmers’ Market was going to be on the Saturday, so we thought we could do something for Mother’s Day.
‘‘We have a number of new stallholders coming.’’
Also excited to be involved in organising this year’s event is Kim Pepper, who said the Mother’s Day Market has been a tradition for her young family since coming to Deniliquin more than three years ago.
She also has a new son to boost her Mother’s Day celebrations this year.
Kim and husband Cameron welcomed baby Tristan two weeks ago today.
‘‘We are very fortunate, and I will be enjoying every minute of Mother’s Day — I just hope I can get a sleep-in,’’ she said.
