Deni Rams defender John Anstee will line up for the Murray Football League in their interleague clash against the Gippsland Football League at Moe tomorrow.
The 26 year-old is the lone Rams player to make the final cut for the 23-man squad, being named at full back when the side was selected on Wednesday night.
The MFL side will be coached by Nathalia’s Jason Limbrick alongside assistant coaches James Hazelman (Barooga) and Josh Noonan (Cobram), all in a non-playing capacity.
Anstee was thrilled with the selection, saying he hopes to do the Rams proud.
‘‘It’s really exciting to be selected,’’ he said.
‘‘I always aspire to play representative footy. Getting named to play alongside the league’s best and getting to know the blokes you play on each week a bit better is a great opportunity.
‘‘I also want to try and promote the idea of playing rep. footy to our younger guys at the Rams.
‘‘We have three blokes in the Under 18s side which shows we have a strong group of juniors coming through the ranks.’’
Also lining up in the MFL side is former Deni Ram and current Finley captain Lachy Small, who has been named on the interchange.
The Rams will be well represented at interleague this weekend with Sam Willoughby, Sid Pearn and Lachlan Trotman all named to play in the U18s MFL side.
The U18 side will be coached by Adrian Daly with assistant coaches Levi Power and Mick Taylor.
The U18s game will be played before the senior game, with the first bounce at 10.30am.
Also representing the Rams in interleague action will be star A grade netballer Amelia Seignior.
The reigning Murray Netball League A grade best and fairest was the only Ram to be selected in the Murray League netball side.
Seignior has carried her tremendous 2017 form over to the 2018 season, helping the Rams on their way to an unbeaten 7-0 start.
The MNL side will be coached by Tongala coaches Dylan Nexhip and Jarrad Walker.
