The Deni Rovers A grade flexed their muscles and thrashed Katunga by 29 goals at Memorial Park in round nine of the Picola & District League on Saturday.

Given the Swans’ pedigree as a perennial premiership contender a challenge was expected for the surging Roos, but it proved anything but as they blew their opposition away.

The Roos showed a strong unified game of team netball. The attacking options and defensive work was disciplined and well executed.

Final score, Deni Rovers 55 to Katunga 26.

Awards: Chrissy Hurst - Van Lieshout Timber and Carissa Thommers - Globe Hotel.

It was a game of missed opportunity for the B grade side, going down in a nail biter to ladder leader Katunga.

It was a top game to build on for the Roos, who are still chasing a four quarter game of consistent match play and good decision making.

Final score, Katunga 39 to Deni Rovers 37.

Another good team effort for the Rovers C grade saw them come away with a thrilling one goal win.

The Roos showed great team spirit as they hung on to record the victory, with improvement in the side’s ability starting to shine through.

Final score, Deni Rovers 31 to Katunga 30.

The C reserve Rovers continued their winning ways to outclass the Swans by 29 goals.

Katunga put up a fight to the end keeping everyone on their toes, but solid passages of play and accurate shooting helped the Rovers take the win.

The Roos sit on top of the ladder with nine wins in as many games.

Final score, Deni Rovers 55 to Katunga 26.

The Rovers Under 17s started a little slowly and were jumped early by a tall outfit in Katunga, going down by 16.

The third quarter showed some strong play but the Roos were just not able to capitalise on turnovers.

Final score, Katunga 50 to Deni Rovers 34.

Awards: Liv Stubbings - Brush Hair and Beauty and Nik Larcombe - Sushi Bite.

The Rovers U15s were dominant against Katunga.

Remy Muirhead was quick on her feet, playing a sterling game for the Rovers while Sienna Jenkins drove hard onto the ball and, supported by Sophie Strong, led the play into the shooters.

Edwina Barclay was a shooters’ worst nightmare while the versatile Abbey Wills also played a solid game in defence, combining well with newcomer Alyssa Townsend.

Accurate shooting from way back in the ring by Hayley Denny and Emma East led to a solid win.

Final score, Deni Rovers 43 to Katunga 5.

Awards: Remy Muirhead - IGA/Josh’s Bakehouse, Sienna Jenkins - Bennetts Sport and Emma East - Lick it Quick Ice Cream.

The Roos U13s started the match strongly, leading at every break to eventually take out the match against a fast Katunga.

Erika Martin timed her leads perfectly and shot beautifully at goal attack.

Matilda Glowrey worked hard at the other end of the court creating many turnovers and applied drive down the court.

Final score, Deni Rovers 28 to Katunga 12.
