Tanaka Maunganidze in action for Heart in A grade.

The sun shone beautifully at Rotary Park for round five of Deniliquin District Soccer Club action on Saturday.

Every team has played each other now with A grade’s top teams currently being United and Mariners.

B grade ladder leaders are United, Mariners and Heart; C grade is led by Mariners, Heart and Victory; and D grade’s Roar is the only team to be undefeated, followed closely by United and Victory.

The Open competition is close between all four teams with Mariners on top, followed by Victory.

There are still eight weeks of soccer to be played so anything can happen, especially as teams learn to work together.

There is no soccer this Saturday due to Queen’s Birthday long weekend, however the High School competition is scheduled for Friday night.

Training is on for all Open and High School players on Tuesday at 6.30pm to 8pm and for junior players at 5pm on Thursday.

Saturday’s results:

A grade: Elena Mulham made a run into the forward line to kick the deciding goal for United despite plenty of cheering for Heart to get their first win on the board.

United 2 def. Heart 1. Best: Zac Tangey, Ruby Hehir. Sportsmanship: Ryan Foran, Shelby Nevinson.

Mariners 3 def. Victory 0. Best: Khobien Thomson, Taylah Gow. Sportsmanship: Sophie Bashford, Georgia Taylor.
