Yarkuwa mural unveiled today

Local people are invited to the unveiling of the Kawir & Kuthun Language Mural, which is being held this afternoon.

The mural is based on the locally produced Kawir & Kuthun (Emu and Brolga) storybook released by Yarkuwa Indigenous Knowledge Centre earlier this year. Kawir & Kuthun is a local dreaming story about an emu and a brolga.

The mural has words from the Wamba Wamba language incorporated into the design, to help share local language across our community. Illustrations from the book are also featured in the mural to create a ‘one of a kind’ art piece for the community.

The new mural is set to feature on the side of the Yarkuwa building at the corner of End and Junction Sts, where it will be unveiled at 4.30pm today. The Kawir & Kuthun storybook can be purchased at Yarkuwa.
