‘‘As a one-eyed 40-year Carlton supporter it was such a thrill.’’

That was how Deniliquin South School K/1 teacher Julie Selleck described meeting players from the Carlton Football Club on Tuesday.

The eight Blues players, including young gun Patrick Cripps, visited Deniliquin primary schools as part of their local fly-in tour.

Mrs Selleck said as she struggles to get to AFL games it was comforting to see the players make their way to Deniliquin.

‘‘We saw them play earlier in the season and they lost to Collingwood.

‘‘The players were excellent with the students (during the visit) and will be great role models in the future.

‘‘My daughter Phoebe is also a one-eyed supporter and hasn’t taken her jumper off since meeting the players.

‘‘Since they came up, I’m thinking of getting back down to Melbourne to see them again this season,’’ Mrs Selleck said.
