WikiLeaks' Julian Assange has welcomed a Swedish decision to drop a rape investigation against him.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has appeared on the balcony of the Embassy of Ecuador in London to welcome news that Swedish prosecutors have dropped investigations into a rape claim against him.

Earlier, the 45-year-old took to Twitter to again repudiate the allegations.

"Detained for 7 years without charge by while my children grew up and my name was slandered. I do not forgive or forget," he posted.

Assange had been holed up in the embassy since mid-2012, fearing extradition to Sweden to face the allegation.
