Known more commonly as U3A, its programs aim to educate and stimulate those who are 50 years or over.
On the day, 80 people registered to participate in the 2020 program, which publicity officer Gayle Beckton said is 20 more than last year.
She said further enrolments will be accepted throughout the year.
‘‘We’re up on last year which is fantastic to see,’’ she said.
‘‘We are very happy with attendance and the community interest in U3A.
‘‘And we expect even more people to join, with some unable to make it on the day and others who want to learn more about what we offer first.’’
The first class of the year is Scrabble, starting on Monday, February 3 from 10am until 11am. This is followed by Armchair Travel from 11am until midday and an iPads and iPhone class at 2pm until 4pm.
Start your Tuesday morning with the Walking Group from 7am until 8am before attending the ‘How to write your life story’ class from 11am until midday.
Wednesday offers the most variety with Tai Chi from 9am until 9.45am, Scattegories from 10am until 11am, Discussion Group from 11am until midday, Italian from midday until 1pm and finally Meditation from 1pm until 2pm. Additionally, there will be a guest speaker attend from 2pm until 3pm on the fourth Wednesday of every month.
History is the first class on Thursday from 10am until 11am and a Book Club is hosted at the same time on the first Thursday of every month.
Friday offers ‘Gardening Talkabout’ from 9am until 10am before Mahjong from 10am until 12.30pm.
The membership fee of $35 allows you to attend as many classes as you prefer.
For those still deciding on whether to join U3A, you can attend three classes for free before signing up.
The terms follow the NSW school term dates, with each term bringing a new schedule developed and based on the interests of members.
