Now, the 73 year-old Wagga based artist has been invited back, but as a guest judge this time.
‘‘I am excited,’’ Mrs Stewart said.
‘‘It is a really good show and always a big event, so it is exciting to be asked to judge this year.
‘‘I have always enjoyed coming to Deniliquin and meeting the people of the show.’’
Mrs Stewart has been drawing for all her life and took up painting 45 years ago. She has been teaching at her home studio for 25 years.
She mainly sticks to realism and impressionist styles of art, using primarily oil paints with a touch of pastel and pen and wash.
‘‘Art is a great pastime,’’ she said.
‘‘You can get lost in your work and your troubles and everything else just go away.
‘‘It’s just brilliant.’’
She has been judging for the past three years now and says she is looking for the wow factor, skill level and composition in the works at this year’s show.
‘‘I like the wow factor and having something jump out at you, so I will be looking for that,’’ Mrs Stewart said.
‘‘Then I will look at the skill of the work and the composition which will gain recognition in judging.
‘‘Everybody can learn to paint, it is never too late and you never stop learning, so I am excited to see the various skills and works that come from each of the artists entering the competition.’’
