It is an opportunity for entrants to earn a cash prize for their efforts, but most of all, it is the perfect way to showcase local talent.
This year the entries will pay tribute to the show’s long history, with the theme based on ‘Celebrating 140 years’ of the Deniliquin Show.
‘‘The pavilion is a great annual opportunity for our locals, including the younger generations, to show us what they can do and what makes them unique,’’ Deniliquin Show Society president Graeme Doncon said.
‘‘We especially enjoy seeing the primary school entries, as classes work as a team and individually to express themselves.
‘‘Every year our judges are blown away by what people come up with when entering, particularly around our yearly theme.
‘‘Last year it was Australia flora and fauna, so I am looking forward to seeing how people take on the challenge of our celebration theme.
‘‘I encourage anyone with an interest to give it a go and don’t forget to go and check out the entries on the show weekend.’’
Entry deadlines for categories are as follows: Monday, March 2 at 5pm – Junior Hobby Work and Art; Wednesday March 4 at 4pm – Food and Cookery, Jams and Sauces, One Person’s Work, CWA Special Class, Needlework, Junior Needlework, Patchwork and Quilting, Handcraft, Photography, Fine Arts; Thursday March 5 at 9.30am – Child's Party Outfit, Junior/Teenage Cookery, Rice; Thursday March 5 at 4pm – Farm and Garden Produce; Friday March 6 and 9.30am – Floral Art, Junior Floral Art, Horticulture.
