Roadworks fix in Crispe St

An avenue of trees will be installed along Crispe St in Deniliquin as upgrades continue over the next 12 months.

The large canopy trees will not only aim to beautify one of the main entrances to town, but are also designed to help reduce traffic speed.

The Crispe St upgrade, which is outlined in Edward River Council’s Deniliquin Masterplan, also proposes new footpaths to improve pedestrian access along the road.

Some road pavement improvements have already been undertaken in Crispe St as part of the larger project, which council admitted did have to be repaired earlier this month.

Council general manager said the areas needing to be re-done were near the Henry St intersection.

‘‘Following the completion of the Crispe St project last year, council had some concerns with the standard of the seal in a couple of isolated locations,’’ he said.

‘‘Council worked with the contractor to rectify these issues.

‘‘This minor work was completed in line with the conditions of the contract as part of the twelve month warranty period for the project.

‘‘As a result, there has been no additional cost to ratepayers for the work completed.’’
