State’s best Service

There was plenty to celebrate for Deniliquin's Service NSW centre last Friday night.

At the Service NSW Awards night, Deniliquin centre manager Sal Wall was awarded the prestigious People Leader award.

At the same ceremony, held at NSW Parliament House in Sydney, Deniliquin was named the 'number one' Service NSW centre based on workplace culture and engagement.

Mrs Wall was in the running for the leadership award after earning the Service NSW People Leader of the Month award in July.

From nominations across the organisation there are 12 monthly winners, Service NSW shortlists three leaders for the final award.

Mrs Wall said to receive both accolades was "humbling".

"When you think of how large Service NSW is you don't expect this, I love my job and colleagues. It was completely unexpected.

"It's been a team effort to earn that honour. A cohesive team, positive morale and amazing culture was the main focus for me when I took on the role of manager. This in turn is displayed with the wonderful customer service provided by our team to our communities.

"It was exciting enough to just be nominated, then shortlisted as part of the top three for the People Leader award, so to be announced as the winner among 3000 people in our organisation is mind-blowing."

Mrs Wall first started working as a Driver Tester/ Customer Service Representative for Roads and Maritime Services in 2012.

She was a part of the company when it made the transition to Service NSW in 2015, and last year was promoted to centre manager.

It is a busy role for Mrs Wall, who manages not only the Deniliquin, but also the Finley and Hay Centres.

"My greatest accomplishment has been working with such an amazing team over the three service centres," she said.

"We have a highly engaged team across all three centres and work well as ‘one team’.

"Deni's centre being named number one wouldn't be possible without the support network from the Finley and Hay offices, so it's a win for all of us."

This year, Service NSW celebrated being the eight greatest organisation to work in Australia.
