The seminar will be held at the Deniliquin RSL Sports Complex, starting at 10am.
Standard 8 Organisational Governance recognises aged care boards as having overall responsibility for services delivery, and ultimately holds them accountable for the quality and safety of care and services.
The masterclass will focus on corporate governance vs organisational governance; assessing a board’s corporate and organisational governance; Standard 8 components and considerations, realities and practicalities, implications for directors and key personnel, and practical steps and activities
Key presenter for the day will be Australian Strategic Services principal consultant Michael Goldsworthy.
Navorina Nursing Home director John Tushuizen, who played a major role in organising the masterclass, said he first saw Mr Goldsworthy at the three-day Aged & Community Service Australia National Summit last month.
“I contacted him (Mr Goldsworthy) immediately to see if we could get a masterclass held in Deniliquin,” he said.
“He was fantastic and was quick to help out in organising this.
“This is a game changer for boards, chief executive officers and executives. People in the country have no access to corporate governance training, so this is a rare opportunity.
“This seminar would usually cost $990 in the city, and country people would need to add on transport and accommodation.”
The Deniliquin seminar will cost about $200 per person.
Mr Tushuizen said there has been a lot of interest from around the region and is hopeful all aged care facilities can learn together and work together in the future.
“We would like to use this as a networking platform for regional aged care facilities to ensure that the best systems are used for accounting, medical and clinical care,” Mr Tushuizen said.
“Benchmark studies show that the industry's revenue is declining and costs are increasing.
“Everyone can benefit from the seminar by pooling resources, knowledge and skills.
“We've had an overwhelming response, but I'd encourage anyone within the industry to not miss out on this opportunity.”
