If you are confused by the legalities of governance of a board or committee, Cobram Community House can help.
In partnership with University of the Third Age and Moira Shire, sessions are being held for volunteer committee and board members to learn the ropes and what is legally required of them.
As a committee or board member of a community organisation, people must be aware of the legal responsibilities.
The session for governing a community organisation is on June 4 from 6pm to 9pm and June 5, from 10am to 1pm.
The volunteers and the law session covers community organisations engaging volunteers and making sure people understand the legal difference between paid and unpaid workers.
The session takes people through the components of a successful and legally compliant volunteer program.
The volunteers and the law session is on June 5 from 2pm to 5pm.
●Training will be provided by not-for-profit law, a legal program of Justice Connect. For information or to register, contact Cobram Community House on 58722224 by May 30. Cost is $5 a head or, for registered members of Cobram and District U3A, there is no cost.
