Finley Golf Club was the place to be on Saturday with 112 golfers participating in the 2019 Garnaut Mid Murray Teams Challenge.
Despite above average temperatures expected, golfers from near and far made up 28 teams for the four-person stableford team aggregate event with the three best scores to count.
The day saw divisions for Ladies, Men’s and Mixed Teams as well as individual awards for men’s and ladies winners and runners-up.
In the teams section it was the home town teams who took out the trophies in each of the divisions.
Heather Daniel, Gay Henderson, Kath Klemke, and Sue Simpson claimed the Ladies Division with a team score of 114 points.
Margot and Mark Robertson along with Deborah and Dale Pyke took out the Mixed Division with 120 points.
Michael Taylor, Jon Munro, Naldo Casanova and Seth Howell, whose team score totalled 126, were the Men’s Division winners.
Men’s Individual Winner was Fred Mercuri from Leeton with 47 points while local Naldo Casanova was runner-up with 43 points.
Ladies Individual Winner was Toni Kilderry from Tooleybuc, also with 47 points, with Deborah Pyke scoring 44 points to be runner-up.
Men’s Division One NTP went to Sel Corcoran with Dave Sandquest from Coleambally taking Division Two.
Ladies Division One NTP went begging however Kerrie Carlon was the Division Two NTP winner.
The club would like to thank to Chris Garnaut and his company Garnaut Private Wealth as well as Rod Booth and the Tocumwal Golf and Bowls Club Pro Shop for their the assistance on the day.
Once again there was a good turnout for the Wednesday stableford medley event with Yeppoon junior Locky Caldwell scoring 38 points to claim the Division One trophy.
Matt Wilson’s 45 points gave him top honours in Division Two.
NTP on the 13th was Beth White.
Ball Competition winners were Ryan Donkin (37), Bill Mansell (37), Ian Armer (35), Peter Middlebrook (35), Doug Smith (34), Sue Simpson (34) and Matt Daniel (34).
Martin Piggin stepped into the winner’s circle when he carded 30.5 net at the nine hole stroke competition on Thursday.
Ball competition winners were Rand Wilson (31), Janet Delmenico (31), Naldo Casanova (31.5) and Beau Makkinga (32).
A Stableford Medley event was played on Sunday, with Sue Simpson’s 42 points seeing her claim the trophy.
NTP on the 13th was Maureen McNamara (Wynnum) and on the 18th was Norm Pyle.
Ball competition winners were Marty Piggin (40), Norm Pyle (37) and Alan Hand (36).
Sharon Pyle collected an Ultra NAGA Trophy.
At the weekend stableford will be played on Saturday and stroke on Sunday.
Tocumwal
Carmel Butcher stood tall to claim the ladies Monthly Medal among a field of 46 golfers on Tuesday last week.
Butcher took the medal with 43 stableford points, winning the Division Two daily competition ahead of Elizabeth Muir on 38.
Division One went to Anne Beveridge with 37 points on countback from Adorree Bailey.
NTPs went to Roslyn Seymour 8th, Nola Whitford 18th and Anne Beveridge Pro Pin $46.
Stableford was played by 100 players from the blue markers last Wednesday.
Division One was won by Jason Buchanan with 38 points and runner-up went to Ross Percy on 37.
David Gibbs was the Division Two winner with 40 points followed by Brett Angel 39 and Division Three was won by Stephen Grant with 41 points, ahead of Lou Richard with 38.
Lindsay Bright’s 37 points was enough to win Division Four ahead of runner-up Greg Harmes with 36.
NTPs went to Graeme Fillipe 8th and Michael Taylor 17th pro pin $114.
Men’s Gold winner was Graeme Sharp with 38 points followed by Allan Penny 35.
On Saturday, 25 ladies and 47 men played stableford in the heat that saw ladies Division One going to Sue Hawe with 37 points.
Division Two was won by Nannette Mullins who had 35 points.
NTP went to Helen Crilly on the 2nd.
Men’s Division One was won by Michael Cooper who had 39 points followed by Jason Buchanan with 38.
Lionel Thurtell managed a huge score of 46 points to win Division Two, with Bernard Clements runner-up on 40.
NTPs went to Anthony Clement 2nd and Michael Cooper 18th.
Men’s Gold Winner was Allan Penny on 27 points.

Berrigan
Friday saw a number of talented golfers brave the heat for the nine hole competition.
Young Hamish Cameron played an outstanding nine holes to come in as the winner (48-18-30), in his first individual win.
Runner-up was Doug Cameron (42-7-35).
Putting was won by Peter Shand with 13 putts and ball winners were Chris Kelly (44-8.5-35.5) and Joe Nicholls (47-11-36).
Sunday was stableford and the winner was Doug Cameron with 40 points closely followed by Matthew Whelan on 39 .
Ball winners were Hamish Cameron on 37 points and Chris Kelly and Jeff Stein both on 36 points.
In the final of the Bill Hawkins Match Play which was played on Sunday, Doug Cameron defeated Fraser Haintz 2 to 1.
A four ball best ball stableford will be played on Sunday, with a draw for partners and hit off at 8.30am.

Southern Riv Vets
The January Southern Riverina Veterans Golf Association competition round was held at the Finley Golf Club on Monday with 83 golfers taking part, despite many withdrawals for fear of the forecast temperatures.
Stableford was played and Colin Rankin (Cobram/Barooga) with 40 points took the A grade trophy while Wayne Knowles (Yarrawonga/Mulwala) on 39 points was runner-up.
John Beard (Cobram/Barooga) took B grade with 41 points from Barry Wonwood (Finley) with 39.
Dean Read (Yarrawonga/Mulwala) with 39 points won C Grade while David Lewis (Cobram/Barooga) was declared runner-up on 37 points after a countback.
A grade NTP went Wayne Peasley (Finley), B grade Jeff Stein (Berrigan), C grade Laurie Sanders (Berrigan) and All Grades went to Lyle Herrick (Cobram/Barooga).
Balls were awarded to 52 players with 31 points or better.
