MANDALAY Resources put our region on the map recently at the prestigious 2019 Women in Resources Awards in Melbourne.
Hosted by MCA Victoria with the support of AusIMM Women in Mining and Resources Network Victoria, the awards recognise individual achievement and company efforts to increase gender diversity across mining operations, within corporate offices and across the mining equipment, technology and services sector.
And Mandalay Resources Costerfield Operations shone on the night, with Emma McLean winning the Outstanding Australian Trade, Operator or Technician section and off to Sydney for the national awards in September.
Mandalay Resources’ Kyra McCullough came runner-up in the same section.
Caroline Dunning attended as a finalist in the Exceptional Young Woman in Resources category, coming runner-up to Bonnie Coxon of Newcrest Mining Limited.
Caroline is a mining engineer at Mandalay Resources, a rare occupation for women but a role she shares with Mandalay Resources Costerfield Operations general manager Melanie McCarthy, who was there on the night to cheer on her team.
Also on hand for the glamour evening were Melbourne Lord Mayor Sally Capp and Victorian Regional Development, Agriculture and Resources Minister Jaclyn Symes (far right).
