A MASSIVE total of 125 players took part in a stroke (monthly medal) event at the Axedale Golf Club on Saturday, January 5. The event was sponsored by Smartline Mortgage Brokers.

In division one the winner was Fred Kath (75 gross, 8 h/c, 67 nett) on a count-back from David McGibbon (71 gross, 4 h/c, 67 nett), also on a count-back from Reece Thompson (75 gross, 8 h/c, 67 nett). Fourth place went to Rod Threlfall (81 gross, 13 h/c, 68 nett).

In division two the winner was Sam Bilardi (81 gross, 17 h/c, 64 nett). The runner-up was Rod Connelly (83 gross, 14 h/c, 69 nett). Third place went to Bruce Mitchell (85 gross, 16 h/c, 69 nett). Fourth place went to Tony Strybosch (85 gross, 16 h/c, 69 nett).

In division three the winner was Brian Edwards (84 gross, 21 h/c, 63 nett). The runner-up was Mike Fitzgerald (82 gross, 18 h/c, 64 nett). Third place went to Craig Lee (85 gross, 18 h/c, 67 nett). Fourth place went to Tony Murphy (87 gross, 20 h/c, 67 nett).

In division four the winner was Greg Hamilton (88 gross, 22 h/c, 66 nett). The runner-up was Lindsay Budds (92 gross, 24 h/c, 68 nett). Third place went to Fred Dijkman (93 gross, 24 h/c, 69 nett) on a count-back. Fourth place went to Peter Stewart (91 gross, 22 h/c, 69 nett).

In division two of the ladies, for handicaps of 29-45, the winner was Annette Holmes (95 gross, 29 h/c, 66 nett). The runner-up was Debbie Kesper (111 gross, 37 h/c, 74 nett).

Men’s Event

In division one 0-12 h/c) the winner was Max Kettle (11 h/c, 41 nett). The runner-up was Glenn Morrison (6 h/c, 40 nett). Third place went to Paul Pyke (10 h/c, 39 nett) on a count-back.

In division two (13-17 h/c), the winner was Seb Lanteri (17 h/c, 41 nett) on a countback from runner-up Rod Threlfall (14 h/c, 41 nett). Third place went to Steven Lee (13 h/c, 40 nett).

In division three (18-21 h/c) the winner was Derek Higham (21 h/c, 41 nett). The runner-up was Geoff Kerr (20 h/c, 40 nett), while third place went to Russ McGibbon (21 h/c, 39 nett).

In division four (22-36 h/c), the winner was Steve Johnson (23 h/c, 42 nett). The runner-up was Rob Murrell (23 h/c, 41 nett) on a count-back from Denis Chapman (32 h/c, 41 nett).

■ ON THURSDAY, December 27, 47 men took part in a stableford event at the Axedale Golf Club. The event was sponsored by MLC Advice.

In division one (0-16) the winner was Paul Pyke (10 h/c, 42 nett). The runner-up was Garry Harrop (11 h/c, 42 nett). Third place went to Robin Minne (13 h/c, 40 (or 41) nett).

In division two (17-36), Alan Clements (23 h/c, 42 nett) was declared the winner after a count-back while Mick Purdon took out runner-up (18 h/c, 42 nett). Third place meanwhile was awarded to Don Mitchell (19 h/c, 40 nett).

Men’s Event:

In division one (-1 to 12 h/c) the winner was Brad Fawcett (9 h/c, 3 nett). The runner-up was Peter Elvey (12 h/c, 2 nett) on a countback from Peter Williamson (9 h/c, 2 nett).

In division two (13 to 17 h/c), the winner was Keiran Nhill (17 h/c, 4 nett) on a count-back from runner-up Anthony Strybosch (16 h/c, 4 nett). Third place went to Ryan Fitzpatrick (16 h/c, 3 nett).

In division three (18 to 21 h/c) the winner was Tony Murphy (20 h/c, 5 nett). The runner-up was Ian Martin (18 h/c, 1 nett), while third place was decided on a countback, and went to Mick Purdon (18 h/c, 0 nett).
