PLENTY of local events and organisations were successful in round two of Campaspe Shire’s 2018/19 Community Grants program.
Mayor Adrian Weston, announced the grants last week and said 50 not for profit community groups received a total of $116,710 to assist in the delivery of events and projects within the community.
Paul Diegan from the Rushworth Easter Heritage Festival thanked Campaspe Shire for $5000 which will support the group’s 2019 event.
“This year we estimate we had 5500 visitors to the area and next year we would like to see that number rise,” Mr Diegan said.
We are aiming for bigger and better, while still keeping within the event’s heritage theme. We look forward to bringing another successful event that benefits not only Rushworth, but also the wider area of Campaspe Shire.”
In the Community Support category successful local groups were:
■$4000 Rushworth Machinery Preservation Club Inc, barbecue trailer
■$4000 Kyabram P-12 College, purchase of water tank and repair/replace guttering and downpipes to assist with obtaining a five-star resources smart sustainability rating
In the events category, successful local events were:
■$800 Wyuna Memorial Hall Committee, seasonal community dinners and end of year Christmas social
■$450 Koyuga Hall and Recreation Reserve Committee, Koyuga Christmas function
■$1000 Embrace Church, Tongala carols by candlelight
■$1000 Stanhope and District Development Committee, Stanhope community carols gala night
■$800 Girgarre Community Group Inc, Girgarre quilt in
■$800 Kyvalley Swimming Club, summer and autumn entertainment
■$3000 Kyabram Vintage Engine and Machinery Restoration Group, Kyabram vintage engine and machinery rally in conjunction with the Australian White truck muster
■$1500 Kyabram Community and Learning Centre, colour Kyabram 2019
