Deniliquin had mixed rainfall results during the month of October with parts of the region receiving above average rain.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology the Deniliquin Airport had 44.4mm of rain, 11.2mm higher than on average for the month of October.
However the Deniliquin Visitor Information Centre only received 27.5mm compared to the October average of 38.5mm.
Despite the two water collection points — roughly 5km apart from each other — having a disparity, BOM meteorologist Anita Pyne said the inconsistencies are due to thunderstorms.
‘‘It’s quite normal when thunderstorms occur to dump lots of rain in one spot, while just down the road it can receive nothing.
‘‘There were wide spread cold front in October but they didn’t quite reach far north Victoria or NSW.’
‘‘Another cold front is expected in the middle of next week but it’s not strong.
‘‘The current climate outlook for summer is drier than average,’’ Mrs Pyne said.
