Popular artist to lead two workshops in Deniliquin

By Deniliquin Pastoral Times

Local artists have the opportunity to learn from Yarra Valley based artist Robert Knight when he presents two workshops in Deniliquin this month.

Edward River Art Society member Jan Harris said Mr Knight has been a full time artist for many years and is a highly sought after teacher.

‘‘His style using oils, acrylic and charcoal has been described as contemporary realism with a design element,’’ Mrs Harris said.

‘‘His paintings have a strong focal point surrounded by soft focus to make the painting have a strong impact. Robert loves to draw in charcoal in the same loose style.

‘‘He will assist students in analysing the subject matter, demystifying the artistic process and simplifying complicated subjects.

‘‘Students will use these techniques to draw dynamic art works, and create paintings with feeling and atmosphere.’’

The workshops will be held over two days, on Saturday, March 30 and Sunday, March 31. Classes will run from 9.30am to 4pm each day, at the Multi Arts Centre in Deniliquin’s CBD.

Saturday will focus on charcoal, while Sunday is on oil paints. Students may attend either, or both.

Places are limited. For more information or to book, phone Edward River Art Society president Pam Wettenhall on 0458423871.
