Wonderful boost for theatre group

The company’s leadership group says the investment in the company was made by the more than 350 people who attended their two performances of Alice in Wonderland at the Deniliquin RSL Club at the weekend.

Deni Theatre Company director Sam Willis said the result of all the hard work was overwhelming, and he was proud to showcase the talent of local actors.

‘‘The show was amazing and the cast absolutely exceeded my expectations; their hard work has really paid off,’’ he said.

‘‘We had adjusted a few things last minute which the crew adapted to incredibly, making that performance truly theirs.’’

Performance producer Anthony Myatt said they were initially unsure how the audience would respond to the performance.

‘‘The audience participation has been phenomenal. Leading up to the show we were not sure if the audience would get involved where they were supposed to, but it all fell into place,’’ he said.

‘‘It went better than we could imagine. We have been really impressed with the community involvement not only leading up to the performance night but those who came out and wanted to see what we had created.’’

Deni Theatre Company has already chosen its next performance piece, but is not ready to make the announcement public.

In the meantime, Mr Willis said anyone wishing to be involved in performing arts in Deniliquin should do so now.

‘‘We are keen to continue working with our talented cast but would love to see more people get involved,’’ he said.

‘‘We encourage everyone to give it a go no matter what you may know about theatre, dance or the creative arts.’’

The Deni Theatre Company is at the Deniliquin RSL Club from 4.30pm to 6.30pm every Tuesday.
