Edward River Council is working on a significant roads infrastructure renewal program, which includes $2.396 million worth of works funded by the Stronger Communities Major Projects Program.
Council director infrastructure Oliver McNulty said through the $2.39 million Urban Road Infrastructure Program, council will deliver much-needed upgrades to urban roads.
‘‘We have recently assessed the roads through asset condition services, which gives us information about which roads are deteriorating quickly,’’ Mr McNulty said.
‘‘A road surface lasts about 15 to 20 years, so we reseal as a critical point to extend the life of roads.
‘‘We have multiple projects to improve our roads which include council’s own funds too, which the public can see in our Delivery Program 2018-2021 and Operational Plan 2018-2019 on the council website.’’
Upgrades will include Harfleur St, from Napier to Hardinge St, and this work will be carried out by council’s operations staff.
Riverina Earthworks has been contracted to upgrade Crispe St in three sections — Henry St to Wood St, Harfleur St to Henry St and Wick St to Harfleur St.
Mr McNulty said council is completing final designs, and speaking with contractors, regarding upgrades to Wood St and Victoria St.
Several sections will be upgraded in Wood St — from Napier St to Hardinge St, Junction St to Wellington St and Wellington St to Edwardes St.
Two sections of Victoria St are set for works — Box St to Hyde St and Hyde St to Davidson St.
