Rec reserve works started

Works have started at the Tooleybuc Recreation Reserve’s new amenities building after Murray River Council appointed local builder Willis Family Building to deliver the project.

The works include a new accessible toilet along with female/male toilet facilities that can be accessed from both inside the hall and externally.

Works also include compliant trade waste, access ramps, pavements, external lighting and electrical supply board upgrades.

They are made possible thanks to $120,206 of funding under Round 1 of the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund and additional funding from Murray River Council.

Mayor Chris Bilkey said the start of works for this much-needed project was welcomed.

‘‘The existing amenities are old and quite a distance from where all the main facilities are, so it makes sense to undertake this upgrade to ensure safer, more convenient access for all users,’’ he said.

‘‘The Rec Reserve committee has advocated for these improvements for some time and we are pleased that we can now deliver these to the Tooleybuc community.’’

The expected project completion date is July 2019.
