New trainee Rose Nevinson, 21, is learning from the experts as she progresses through a wool classing traineeship with support from TAFE’s Riverina Institute.
‘‘I love working here. I grew up on a Merino sheep property at Booroorban which has helped me develop my skills within my position here at Seig Sheep & Wool,’’ Rose said.
‘‘I do almost everything Min (co-owner Amelia Seignior) would do. When someone brings in wool, I weigh and price it before buying it. I do all the pressing and organise trucking it to Melbourne.
‘‘We have a long term affiliation with Techwool Trading, Australia’s leading exporter of wool, which means we can help maximise profits for your wool clip.’’
Husband and wife team Ben and Amelia Seignior own the Augustus St business which has been providing wool buying, brokering, exporting and sheep contracting services to Deniliquin and the wider region for more than a decade.
Seig Sheep & Wool offers immediate payment for small lots, on-farm pricing and pick-up, core testing along with auction sales and filling direct export orders through Techwool Trading.
Ben additionally operates a hydraulic cage sheep dip, and his team can also provide lamb marking and mulesing services.
Seig Sheep & Wool also has a strong relationship with long term producers in the region and has a focus on moving towards securing relationships with the younger generation of growers.
It is open from Monday to Friday, and weekends on request.
