If you are interested in making your petrol or LPG vehicle more efficient, schedule a visit to Andrew Howley (pictured) at Deniliquin Machinery.
Did you know that most petrol or LPG vehicles will use up to 10 per cent more fuel when driven at night?
‘‘Everyone’s father told them that engines go better at night, so how can this be that they use more fuel at night?’’ Mr Howley asked.
‘‘The ‘going better’ that we notice is when we use more than throttle, to pass a truck or another car, but once we finish passing we lift the foot back to about throttle.
‘‘The laws of thermodynamics dictate that below throttle most petrol or LPG engines are more efficient when breathing hot air, above throttle they are more efficient with cold air.’’
