Several community members have asked the Pastoral Times whether Waring Gardens or Cressy St will be next.
Both are in the early planning stages as a part of the Edward River Council Deniliquin Masterplan.
Council general manager Adam McSwain said no decision has been made with respect to whether the Cressy St or Waring Gardens works will be undertaken first.
“Council has secured funding through the federal government’s Regional Growth Fund to deliver streetscape improvement works to Cressy Street, and these are scheduled to commence in the second half of the 2019/20 financial year,’’ Mr McSwain said.
“As with the Napier Street revitalisation currently being delivered, council is keen to work closely with the business community to ensure the works are completed as quickly as possible to minimise the impact on local traders.
“We will be engaging with the Deniliquin Business Chamber and Cressy Street traders in due course to discuss project timeframes, however these will not be finalised until later in the year.
“Council’s operations staff will be firmly focused on delivering the $11.6 million capital works program we have planned for next year, which means we intend engaging a contractor to undertake the Cressy Street and riverfront revitalisation works.
“As such, the exact project timeframe will not be finalised until we have tested the market through a tender process and engaged a suitable contractor to deliver the works,” Mr McSwain said.
