I have been grossly misrepresented in the Deniliquin Pastoral Times. I did not make the statement I am alleged to have made on October 31, 2017.

Furthermore, the article does not mention that I have met them three times since then, and have also organised a meeting for them with the Deputy Premier.

I work tirelessly every day for Deniliquin and for every other community in the Murray electorate, travelling thousands of kilometres every month to hear them first-hand.

For the record: I want Deniliquin’s votes. I work to represent everyone in my electorate, from Hay to Leeton and Griffith to Deniliquin, whether they voted for me or not.

The facts are that I’ve been to Deniliquin at least four times a month — every month — since I was elected. I’ve delivered a new police station, built a connected learning centre for the TAFE, put in a renal dialysis unit at the hospital, and secured millions of dollars for upgrades all over town.

I went out on a limb to try to restore sustainable Red Gum harvesting — an industry decimated by Labor — expressly to help the people of Deniliquin and the area get their jobs back.

And I’m proud to stand side-by-side with the residents of Deniliquin to protect this important industry.

I’m continuing to work hard with the local community to make sure the people of Deniliquin get the health services and infrastructure they deserve.

I will be seeking a meeting with the editor of the Pastoral Times to correct the record and ensure that the people of Deniliquin get the actual facts.
