Australia Day expressions of interest wanted

By Seymour Telegraph

Mitchell Shire is seeking expressions of interest from community organisations to host the 2020 Australia Day celebrations.

Community groups from all across the municipality can submit applications to run the traditional event on January 26, 2020.

Mayor Bill Chisholm said being able to celebrate the community’s year and welcome new citizens was a highlight every year.

‘‘This event is a special one and every year our community comes together to celebrate the achievement of so many talented people, while also celebrating our new citizens in a special ceremony,’’ he said.

‘‘I hope to see as many applications as possible because being able to celebrate in a different town each year is great.’’

‘‘People come from all over to join us and partnering with a local community group is always special.

‘‘If you are even slightly interested, get your expression of interest form in and we can begin discussing with the community on the best spot to host this wonderful event.’’

Expressions of interest can be made online on the Engaging Mitchell Hub or in hard copy form which can be returned via [email protected] or mailed to Mitchell Shire Council - 113 High St, Broadford, VIC 3658. Hard copy nomination forms are also available at our customer and library service centres or by calling 5734 6200. Expressions of Interest close on Monday, May 6.
