SDJFL: Youth Girls wrap

By Alex Mitchell

The Northern Angels and Finley played out a classic encounter in round eight of the Shepparton District Junior Football League Youth Girls competition, with the Angels getting the chocolates by just three points.

Finley played a brilliant second term to be 15 points ahead at the half, but the Angels returned the favour in the third, setting up a grandstand finish with just one point separating the sides.

The Angels lacked execution — kicking 1.5 for the last quarter — but had enough to win 40-37.

Cody Power kicked two for the Angels and starred, with Nicola Oliver, Eleisha Lee and Andriana Oliver other standout performers.

For the Cats, Opal Woods looked an absolute gem with four goals, with Olivia Cicolini, Niamh Mason and Nicola Denny also doing their best in an inspired team performance.

Elsewhere, Echuca enjoyed a big day out against Cobram, producing a 150-point win.

There were plenty of goals to go around for the Murray Bombers, with Madelyn Huismann (seven goals), Phoebe Poole (six) and Chelsey Wright (five) all making the goal umpires work overtime.

Shae Oliver, Rylea De Merlo and Alexis Gregor were other Murray Bombers to enjoy the game, while Mikaela Mulvenna, Emily Nolan and Ebony Mcintosh battled it out for the Tigers.

It was also a one-sided game between Shepparton United and Tatura, with the Demons winning by 130 points.

Kelsey Moylan delivered a perfect 10 with double-digit majors, while Kate Adams, Molly Kennedy and Auroura and Darcie Smith were among the Demons to star.

Zahra Alrahmawi, Astyn Coonerty, Sarah Wilson and Clarise Gale were best for the Bulldogs.
