Lynn to lead Golden Rivers

By Deniliquin Pastoral Times

Long-time local boxing trainer Roy Lynn will once again lead the Deniliquin-based Golden Rivers Boxing Club for 2019.

He was re-appointed as president at the club’s AGM recently, where all positions on the committee were filled.

The club’s executive committee includes Heather Rose (vice president), Michelle Jones (secretary) and Jess Wills (treasurer).

Rose will also serve as a publicity officer alongside Riley Foord, with Danny Barnes and Gavin Walker a part of the general committee.

Lynn, who will continue as head trainer, said Paul Johnstone, Jamie East and Travis Rochford will all continue their roles as trainers.

‘‘We welcome two new members to the committee with Gavin Walker and Jamie East joining us,’’ he said.

‘‘Gavin will help with fundraising and has three young boys who have started training.

‘‘Jamie will help train boxers every Tuesday and Thursday night.

‘‘He used to train with me in the past and reached state championship standard.

‘‘We thank Jessie Holloway for her time as treasurer over the past few years, who will now step down due to increasing work commitments, with Jess Wills taking on the role.

‘‘Travis Rochford will not only train our fighters but serve as our promoter for boxing events next year.’’

The club will hold their presentation night at the Golden Rivers Boxing gym at 7pm tonight.

Training will continue until the holiday break-up on December 13, with training to resume on January 7, 2019.
