While going down on two rinks, Deni still managed to clinch the overall victory 62 to 60 with one big rink win on the Rich River greens.
Paul Snare (s), Peter Chadderton, Linda Harris and Tony Scoullar were the big winners on the day for Deni, scoring a 23 to 16 victory.
The remaining rinks saw close results go the way of the home side with Jamie Shields (s), John Flisher, Lindsay Franklin and Robert Morris beaten 20 to 16 and Simon Chisholm, Stefan Truelsen, Stuart Treble and David Hessell going down in a one-shot thriller, 24 to 23.
Deni’s Division Two also managed to beat the heat, completing their game with an impressive 29 shot win over a visiting Lockington side.
The home side won on all three rinks in the 76 to 47 triumph.
Lloyd Ritchie (s), Keith Plattfuss, Bill Young and Toni Brooksby just snuck over the line in a low-scoring affair, leading 14 to 12 after 25 ends.
It was a one-way affair on both of the remaining two ends, with Brian Kemnitz skipping the team of Joanne Bovell, Graham Nisbet and Stephen King to a 29 to 18 victory.
Harry Lea and his team of Mark Tasker, Lee Hillier and Maxine Norton had the biggest win of the day, downing their opponents 33 to 17.
Deni’s Division Three also finished as victors on Saturday, with a 14 shot away win against Echuca.
Deni managed two rink wins on the day, claiming a 76 to 62 overall victory.
Tom Todd (s), Peter Scerri, Colin Knuckey and Tony King were pipped at the post in a 25 to 22 loss against their opponents.
David Seymour’s team of Graeme Dedman, Alan Hardcastle and Danny Stanmore held strong in a tight 24 to 22 win, leaving Deni behind by one shot overall.
However a massive 30 to 15 win by Russell Douglas (s), John Croker, Carly Crothers and Michael Donohue ensured the overall result for Deni, recording their sixth win of the season.
Division Five’s clash against local rival Deni RSL was ruled a heat out, with only three bowls left to be played when the ruling was made.
