Deniliquin Bowling Club’s Linda Harris (pictured) has been competing against the Campaspe Valley Bowls Division’s best bowlers in the Champion of Champions competition recently.
Harris’ first game of the knockout tournament was played last Thursday.
In that game she came up against Lockington’s Kath Palmer, where the Deni bowler won comfortably with a 25 to 9 margin.
‘‘We had a good game and I ended up winning quite well,’’ Harris said.
‘‘We were supposed to have played this game last month but due to the heat were unable to.
‘‘We finally played our match and now we are down to the straight last eight for the quarter finals.’’
The Deni BC Division One player has previously won the Champion of Champions title once and finished as runner-up twice.
‘‘I’m very excited to play, it’s been five years since I have played singles.
‘‘I did win the Champion of Champions 14 years ago and it’s great to give it another crack.’’
The local bowler’s participation in the event comes after a close Club Championship game against Jill Grimshaw in December.
‘‘I beat Jill in a very close game which could have gone either way but it was a thrill to win,’’ she said.
Harris competed in the semi finals yesterday, with results unavailable when the Pastoral Times went to print.
