The Redeyes will have promising young Finley talents Liam Osborne and Dylan Maxwell, as well as former Blighty junior Darcy Morris — who spent 2018 at the Deni Rams — all coming back to the club.
Blighty will also welcome Wakool onballer Kevin Kerr and key position swingman Charlie Simpson will also return after a year away from the club.
Blighty playing-coach Jack Tyndall said the new recruits have already shown some positive signs as his side prepares for the 2019 Picola & District League season.
‘‘Young Dylan Maxwell and Liam Osborne haven’t missed a training so far,’’ Tyndall said.
‘‘Dyl (Maxwell) trained with us last year and there is a massive size difference from that time.
‘‘His body is ready to go and he should slot straight into a key defensive position in the senior side, especially with Cody Jordan likely to be leaving before the season ends.
‘‘Liam (Osborne) is quick and has some of the best skills out there. We’ll look to play him on a wing to utilise his pace.
‘‘Kev (Kerr) is relatively new to the area and he too hasn’t missed a training.
‘‘Darcy (Morris) is a player we identified that we wanted early. We heard good things about him playing at senior level at the Rams so we were hopeful that we would get him back to his home club.
‘‘All of these recruits will give us more rotations through the middle as well, so we’re quite happy with where we’re at.’’
The Redeyes have also managed to lock-in 2016 club best and fairest winner Josh Peers, as well as former Blighty junior David Chalmers and Rams junior Tyler Amor-Beale for the 2019 season.
Unfortunately the Redeyes will have to wait to see the trio play, with Chalmers (hamstring) and Peers (hand) injured, and Amor-Beale unable to travel from Melbourne for the game.
Despite this, Tyndall is quite upbeat about the pre-season clash.
‘‘It’ll be a great test for both clubs,’’ he said.
‘‘With me and a fair few of the boys previously playing for the Rams, most of us are good mates.
‘‘I’d imagine there will be a fair bit of banter between us.
‘‘The majority of the Rams boys are quicker than me so I’ll have to try and beat them with the lip,’’ Tyndall said with a laugh.
The pre-season hit-out starts at 6.30pm and both sides are expected to have between 30 and 40 players available.
All spectators are welcome, and the club’s licensed bar will be operating on the night.
