Heathcote’s local MP spoke in state parliament, raising the plight of businesses that are being impacted by COVID-19 uncertainty.
Speaking before the State Government announced a $1.7 billion rescue package for businesses, Member for Euroa Steph Ryan said action was needed, and it was urgent.
“Small business are doing it really tough,” Ms Ryan said.
“I encourage impacted local businesses and organisations to contact me so I can establish your priorities and lobby for the necessary assistance.”
Ms Ryan said she continues to field inquiries from small business owners incredibly stressed about their future and that of their staff.
“It is unfortunately inevitable that we are going to see local businesses in jeopardy, job losses, those who are temporarily laid off and those who have their hours reduced as a result of this situation,” she said.
“It is incredibly important for the state government to proactively minimise the impact of COVID-19 on Victoria’s economy and support our small businesses at this unprecedented time.”
Ms Ryan also encouraged residents to shop locally.
