GRADING continues as Heathcote Panthers basketball teams find their feet for the new season.
The start of the week for the club saw the under 16 girls going down to an impressive Girton side in the Bendigo Basketball Association.
Playing with only four on the court, the girls displayed courage and commitment to see the game through.
Coach Steve Bradshaw said “it’s hard with a small side side but I’m so proud of the girls. They always leave nothing in their tanks, giving everything week in week out”.
Bendigo Cup meant the under 12 girls and under 14 boys had the week off and the others moving into the Friday Frenzy.
Under 10 boys put in another gallant effort with Luke Anderson taking to the court for the first time, but the side lost to the Beavers.
Under 12 boys went down to a strong Generals side while the older boys in the under 16s came up with an impressive victory against Strathfieldsaye.
The final game saw the under 18s boys challenged in their tightest match this season by Beavers but the Panthers were still able to come home with the victory.
The club thanks team managers and coaches who continue to support the athletes.
All Panther teams are representing themselves and the community well, always being courteous to referees and scorers and displaying good sportsmanship on and off the court.
The club is looking for players to join the under 12 boys and under 16 girls. If you have someone interested, contact the club via their Facebook page.
